We’re asking you to donate to help us do more

Over the last 25+ years, our research has told us designing for health is a win-win: healthy cities are beautiful, they make us happier, they’re good for business, and they’re better for the environment.

We’ve been putting that research into action. In just the last year, we:

  • Teamed up with the Beltline Urban Murals Project to resurface and improve safety at the Connaught Open Street - and make the Beltline a safer, more playful place to walk to school!

  • Teamed up with designers and locals to imagine permanent changes - including re-greening - for the Connaught Open Street

  • Were honoured with a National Urban Design Award alongside partners for Kids Reimagine School Streets - a program that turned kids into community designers to support more walking and biking.

  • Brought the Chickadee Challenge to life - a design toolkit that helps us learn from nature to solve life’s challenges - to three classrooms in Calgary.

  • Joined a pan-Canadian School Streets initiative with Green Communities Canada and 880 Cities, which will fund two more school street prototypes in 2025-26.

  • And much more - from launching Dialogue for a Change, consulting on municipal policy, producing new publications and hosting events. Stay tuned for more in an upcoming blog!

With your support, we can continue to work with Calgarians to imagine healthier changes for our city and a sustainable, just future for our planet.

Increasing urban density and more nearby amenities is good for our health, and helps protect natural spaces. Spur Line conceptually explores an opportunity to develop on Calgary’s existing footprint, reimagining unused “spur lines” in the rail system as sites for mixed-use development.
