A GIS Approach to Identifying Barriers to Active Transportation in Acadia
This project was created for use by Sustainable Calgary, as part of the course GEOG 457: Urban and Environmental GIS, taught by Dr. Victoria Fast, in the Department of Geography at the University of Calgary.
Project Goals:
Use a GIS-based approach to identify locations within Acadia, and in surrounding areas, tha t discourage walking and cycling as a means of t ransportation.
Compare the locations from our analysis to locations identified by residents during earlier consultations with Sustainable Calgary.
Identify friction points in and around the neighbourhood to assist professionals with proposing solutions for the space that will help more people leave their cars behind.
