Playful Places Deck of Cards
Is your community dreaming up more playful neighbourhood places? Check out this deck of cards created by Lucia Blanco for Sustainable Calgary.
Gathering feedback on local needs and preferences is a basic element of codesign - and understanding the realm of possibilities is a key part of that! This card deck shows some of what’s possible when it comes to designing playful places.
Why playful places? We have focused on their role in child development and health - but they also contribute to adult health and longevity. Rob Wheway, Director of the Children’s Play Advisory Service in the UK, suggests “children’s play is more dependent on the public realm (streets, pavements, verges, incidental open space, front gardens) than it is on playgrounds and parks.” Learn more in our publication Streets as Playful Places!
